Coady and Ale are both out for track this year Coady high jump and Ale shot put and discuss.

Their first meet is at the Pepsi Co. Center in Rock Island (Augustana on 30th Street on top of the hill) on Mar.3/4 @ 4pm.
I'm not sure if they will be participating that will be determined this weekend or early next week.
Also Coadys' final show choir performance will be Sun. Mar.8 at 3pm at City High in Iowa City. Tickets are $5.00 and there we be other City High choral groups performing with a reception to follow at school. Let me know if anyone is coming leave a message on my home phone 319-354-6333.
Also Coady is going to be playing women's soccer this spring along with track... I know she will be very busy this spring barring any injuries. By the way my play I directed went very well and my brother George surprised me by coming .Thank you lil bro

Lauryn Hoops it up with another championship

For the last six-weeks, Lauryn has attended a "Skills & Drills" basketball camp. The camp has met once a week and it ended Thursday night with a skills competition.

The drills consisted of a timed dribbling exercise and timed shooting challenge.

She WON the shooting challenge and placed second in the dribbling exercise.

For her efforts, she received a Champion's trophy, a participation medal, and a new basketball.

Great Job Lauryn!

4th Avenue Jazz Company places 5th

Iowa City High's 4th Avenue Jazz Company placed 5th at Great River Show Choir Competition at the Adler Theatre last Saturday.

The group performed a series of skits filled with bright colored costumes and coordinated dance moves. Mediacom was on hand to provide video and I'm not sure if a DVD will be available or if they will broadcast the performance via cable subscriptions. If you have information on this please let me know so I can arrange to get a copy.

Congrats to Coady and all her team mates!

Dear family and friends,

As many of you know, last year I was deeply affected by the deaths of two people I loved very much: my goddaughter Dora and my brother Art. It's been challenging to go through this grieving process.

Friends and family have rallied to provide emotional and financial support. A couple of weeks ago, my sister Mary said she would support me for a few months and my brother Bill offered me an opportunity to stay with him and his family in Denver for a period of recuperation and restoration. I've decided to accept their generous offers. I will be leaving Oakland in the next few days (as soon as the rain stops) and will be gone 1-2 months.
I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and expressions of concern and support. Please forgive me for being antisocial in recent months. I trust, "this, too, shall pass" and that I will get back to wanting to celebrate my birthday again.

4th Avenue Jazz Company is coming to Davenport!

City High's "4th Avenue Jazz Company" Show Choir will be performing in the Great River Show Choir Competition at the Adler Theatre in Davenport.

The competition is held all day, but Coady Sierra's group performance is slated for 3:00 PM, with awards at 6:15 PM. There is also a solos competition and group competitions from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM with awards following.

So if you've got some time Saturday afternoon, come on down to the Adler Theatre!

Henry Sierra gets the Hall of Fame Nod!

Henry will be inducted into the Mexican Basketball Association's Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 21, 2009 @ Beyond the Baseline - 1540 W 12th Street, Davenport IA.

Just a couple years ago his brother Luis got the nod and now its Henry's turn. Meet us out there and celebrate his recognition and achievements.

Congratulations Dad!

The Hall of Fame Ceremony takes place after the MBA All-Star Games. Scheduled time is 5:00 PM.
Events include:

• 35+ Game (Current and Former MBA Players)
  
• 3-Pt Contest (Open to the Public $5 entry fee)
• Pozole and Tostadas afterward @ the VFW
