Dear family and friends,

As many of you know, last year I was deeply affected by the deaths of two people I loved very much: my goddaughter Dora and my brother Art. It's been challenging to go through this grieving process.

Friends and family have rallied to provide emotional and financial support. A couple of weeks ago, my sister Mary said she would support me for a few months and my brother Bill offered me an opportunity to stay with him and his family in Denver for a period of recuperation and restoration. I've decided to accept their generous offers. I will be leaving Oakland in the next few days (as soon as the rain stops) and will be gone 1-2 months.
I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and expressions of concern and support. Please forgive me for being antisocial in recent months. I trust, "this, too, shall pass" and that I will get back to wanting to celebrate my birthday again.
